Museum ClosureWelcome to the ARHS(Vic Div)Inc website and thank you for visiting the Railway Museum pages.
Unfortunately the Museum Remains closed indefinitely to the general public in order to carry out essential maintenance works. This has been a long drawn out process, but we are hopeful of a re opening in the not too distant future. Any queries may be directed to: museum@arhsvic.org.au 1300 220 220 or go to the 'contact' page and leave a message for 'museum'. Keep watching the web sites for updates. Thank you for your patience.
Latest Update One of the most significant delays in 2010 resulted from the need to conduct soil tests and awaiting their results. Delays have continuted in 2011 due to the limited amount of funds we have available to carry out works and the difficulties encountered by our initial project manager in finding contractors to quote on the works. It now appears these problems have been resolved. On a positive note VicTrack have recently offered to re-locate several of our fragile wooden bodied cars to an undercover location, where works can be done to restore the vehicles properly. This should happen in the next few weeks. This has of course meant that much of the project has to be re-scoped, but it will allow better display of the exhibits and a safer environment for our patrons. As noted on the main Museum Page, there will be a series of working bees will be held, commencing on 4th February 2012, to clean up the site, repostion the crowd control fencing, bring the vegetation under control along the North Williamstown end along Champion road and to top dress sections of the paving previously installed.
In parallel to this the contract work will proceed to address the major works.
